Do not know how, but I found this Statue on the internet the other day. In mainland China many people are collecting Mao Zedong memorial relics, but in Taiwan, no one really treasures Chiang Kai Shek historic pieces. I think Chiangs culture relics will eventually receive their respect and collection, so I contacted the seller and bought the piece as my collection.
After I bought the piece, I did some more homework to search for the information, and I found out this statue is really worthwhile for collecting. This statue is made in memorial for the Late President Chiangs 100 years birthday, and it is made by the Master of Mr. Sun Chao, but no one really pays attention to the signature on the statue. The National Academia Historical Bureau has one statue exactly the same as this one, but they do not know the producers first name either.
Mr. Sun chao joined the army when he was still a child, and transferred to Taiwan with the troops. After 16 years with the army, he involved in art, and 1965 got into Sculpture Department of National Taiwan University of Arts, learning fine arts from Master Lee MeiShu and QiYong. The sculpture and crystalline glaze works of Mr. Sun Chao are well known in the art field and are collected by many major museums worldwide as contemporary art.
I saw another same statue has the wooden box, and on the box, it stated , so it clearly indicated that this statue is made in the year of 1986.
This is the statue of the late President Chiang Kai-shek. Wearing traditional Chinese costume, with high collar and cross buttons, draping over with silk ribbon and Cai Yu Medal on it. Square base carving with , <1887-1975>. On one corner of the statue there is a signature of the producer . |
