Description:
|
This is a very large plate from Edo Jidai, hand painted with vivid bamboo and lively Tiger which is a very common theme in Japan. I bought this plate from Japan for two reasons, one is I like the way the tiger was draught so cute and eye catching, and another reason is the old fix to the plate, so called Kintsukuroi (Jin Shan). From this old fix, you can trace back the history of the plate to the period when material was not in enough supply, people treasured any valuable and broken pieces to go through this Kintsukuroi process so to extend the life of material, very dedicated and meticulous fix. |
