Description:
|
A pair of early Qing Dynasty dragon plate. Very simple strokes bring out vivid and smooth dragon designs. Front plate painted with full page of vivid dragon body and the dragon tail continued on the reverse side of the plate. In Chinese, people call this kind of painting skill as [Cross-Wall (or River)] Dragon because the body is on one side and the tail is on the other side of the plate.
I personally like dragon design very much and collect many different utensils with dragon designs. In ancient China, dragon represents: imperiality, authority, and mystique. Probably this is one of the reasons why I like dragon designs |
