Description:

I bought this Jade from a very nice senior gentleman in Taipei Jade Market. He said he is already 83 years old, but really cannot tell from his appearance, and he has big voice and full of spirit. He has been collecting antique for decades, and now it is time to depart those treasures as long as the price and person are right. He asked for a much higher price which I was very hesitated to make the decision. Then he saw me was serious to make the deal so he offered another much reasonable price and finally we reached the purchase agreement.
I checked this crunching bear with more details, and it is celadon jade with black permeated color. Very standard Ming style bold carving skill with simple but powerful lines. Two holes punched through the jade so I can add a beautiful wrist ring to hold and play the jade in my palm. Also showed to several friends and they also said this is a very old jade. Of course, I cannot say it was from Liao or Song Dynasty, but surely Ming period.
Currently, most of players collect white jade, and price of white jade is now unreasonable high. I, on the other hand, exceptionally favor to colored jade, especially to those ancient jade with natural permeated colors. Once you find the luster and color changes after you play with it, that kind of feeling is really great.
This celadon jade, also with black permeated color, together with all over blacked vines and lines, very nice looking. Some blacked vines and lines like lucky cloud, some like flying swallow. |
