I bought this Jade from a very nice jade collector in Hong Kong, and he bought this piece from another private collector together with another 300 pieces of jades. I loved this Jade when the first time I saw it. However, at that time, the owner asked for a much higher price which I could not afford to. I visited him several times after since, and to my luck, almost year later, he still could not sell this piece to any other people. So, finally he gave me a good price and I immediately accepted it. This Jade is really attched to me.
Some People said this Jade was from Han dynasty, and was used as embeded decoration for hat, but I could not confirm that as the hat style in Han was not like this. However, this jade does have three holes on it for embeded decoration purpose. It is hard to say if this piece is from Han or not, but if I know the purpose of this piece then it is easier to tell the period. Conservatively speaking, this Jade definitely up to Song or Ming Dynasty.
Currently, most of players collect white jade, and price of white jade is now unreasonable high. I, on the other hand, exceptionally favor to colored jade, especially to those ancient jade with natural permeated colors. Once you find the luster and color changes after you play with it, that kind of feeling is really great.
This white jade, also with black permeated color, together with all over blacked vines and lines, very nice looking. Some blacked vines and lines like lucky cloud, some like flying swallow. |
