Description (guaranteed):
I bought this piece at ShenZen Antique Market when I visited there with my friend. During that visit, my friend bought 3 pieces of jade and he also helped me to identify this piece. Nice jade but not too old. It is carved with one eagle and one beast depicting "Hero". In Chinese pronunceation, both eagle and bear together pronounce the same as hero (homophone). In the old day, only eagle and bear together depicted hero, but later on, as long as there is an eagle together with either bear or beast, people call it as hero.
Some people said this could be a late Qing piece, but from its carving and polishing works, I believe it's more of a Republic article. Anyway, the material is very good and size is large, very worthwhile for collection. |
