I like this piece very much, but the owner just won't give me a better price. Very rare subject of traditional Chinese 24 Filial Piety Stories (deer milk for parents), very obvious rough Ming style carving. The skin of the deer was burned to be black color, looks just like an actual deer skin. The little boy shouldering deer skin, carrying small bucket, trying to blend into deer group and get milk for parents, very vivid.
I talked with the owner several times for the price but couldn't get a deal. Later on, I saw another piece with the same subject in ShenZen. A little bigger but more expensive. The owner is also a Taiwanese so I asked him to bring back that piece so that I could make the final decision. At that time, I was thinking it would be wonderful if I could own two pieces together and make them a pair.
After I got back to Taiwan, I went to the first owner and asked for price again. Surprisingly, the owner sounded forgot the original price and gave me another good price. I just paid him right away. Now I got the chance to make them a pair. |

二十四孝＿鹿乳奉親
周朝時，有一位叫郯子的，從小就很孝順。
他的父母年老的時候，雙目均患眼疾，想吃鹿乳。郯子苦思冥想，終於想出一個辦法。於是他穿上了鹿皮，往深山鹿群中走去，想這樣去取得鹿乳供奉雙親，沒想到被打獵的人發現。
正當獵人舉起了弓箭要射殺他時，他急忙喊道：”我爲了取得鹿乳，給患有眼疾的雙親吃才穿上鹿皮，混到鹿群中採取鹿乳。”獵人知道原來是人不是鹿，才放下弓箭沒有射他，並且對他這種孝敬父母的行爲讚歎不已。

親老思鹿乳，身穿褐毛衣；
若不高聲語，山中帶箭歸。
