Description (guaranteed):
I bought this piece from a Hong Kong private collector. He said from the illuviation effect of skin surface, this piece is definetely an old piece, however, can't assure the period. I figured that I've never bought this kind of jade before, plus I like the figure work, and I trust the collector, so even I didn't quite understand this piece but I still bought it.
He said due to it is covered heavily by sediment so it needs a lot of work before you can finally see the jade material. I actually think that I would rather to keep this piece as is without change. We also discussed quite long to determine wether this piece is a Buddha Statue or just a retinue?
She dresses as Buddha by puting her both hands closed worshiply, wearing 5-face crown, clothing possessing natural grace. However, the crown is not big, looks like retinue. The best is to call her as Jade Female Figure.
From the appearance and dressing with high waist clothing and broad grow, she looks like from Tong or Song period. However, I can't make sure that and probably have to wait until some day some one can tell me the answer.
Anyway, I like the Jade Female Figure very much, so I took it to ShenZen to custom made a special sandalwood stand. She shall look even more powerful and elegant. |
