I bought this Stone Guanyin Avalokiteshvara Head Statue together with another stone figure of Bodhisattva, Amitabha. The owner has many stone carved Buddha statues in collection. When I saw this head statue, I was deeply attracted by its majestic appearance and elegant style. So I asked the owner to give me a special price together with my other purchase.
I hope someday someone can direct me to the body of this Buddha, so that I can return and restore the original statue to where it belongs.
This elegant Guanyin Avalokiteshvara sculpture wearing detail carved crown with an Amitabha on it. The appearance is solemn, respectful, and majestic. Both eyes opening slightly and looking down peacefully, and showing an appearance of benevolent face and serene expression, very real and realistic.
The owner repainted the base before he delivered to me and made the statue even more glorious and thriving. |

The stone statue is in an excellent state of preservation considering its age. While the high points of the surface are somewhat rubbed as nature age marks, and can easily be seen in the photos, most of the original color remains. The details are incised and well delineated. There are some minor chips in front, and on the areas in the back of the sculpture.
