Description:
|
I bought this Taoist statue long time ago. When I bought this statue, I thought it was GuanYin statue, but later on I found it out it is actually a Bronze Figure of Sovereign of the Clouds of Dawn, or so called Bixia YuanJun. The special and pretty headdress crown was the attraction to me when I bought the statue, and then I noticed the crown is the key symbol of Bixia YuanJun. I saw several similar statues on the auctions with a little more details and delicate than my collection, but prices were always pretty high.
The Bixia Yuanjun wearing a crown with three phoenixes on it, long and curly hair reaching the shoulder, seated on the platform with arms clasped to the front holding a hu tablet, her long robes and tunic top falling into neat folds with a floral-shaped ornament around her chest, the face with a benevolent expression. It is a great Taoist statue from Ming dynasty. |

The bronze is in an excellent state of preservation. The details are incised and well delineated. There are some minor encrustations under the base which were left un-gilt, and on the recessed areas in the back of the sculpture.
