Description:
This Kadampa Chorten was purchased together with another Standing Manjusri (lot 99). This is a quite majestic Kadampa Chorten, but the owner did not quite know the story about this stupa, and thought it was just an ordinary Stupa, so I offered one good price and got two great collections. Scrutinizing this Chorten, made by copper, with surface polished, surrounded by aged marks, rusty spots, and patina.

Topped with lotus shaped crown, then Sun and Moon, followed by lotus pattern umbrella. Under the Dharma wheel, there is mountain shaped Sumeru Throne There are 13 layers of Dharma wheels on top of Sumeru Throne, representing 13 different stages to reach fruition and realization . Each aspect layer is well defined, and has its meaning and achievement.

The body of the Chorten is in the shape of a reversed bowl, decorated with two Dorje rings. The base is in round shape, with the waist carved with lotus leave shaped carvings, and surrounded by beaded borders, the bottom engraved with Buddhism symbol. This Chorten is delicately made with many detail thought, even it is not glorious, but very elaborate with high classic manner. I personal think this Kadampa Chorten is made in West Tibetan area from Ming Dynasty. The style is very simple and unpretentious, the shape is smooth and with strength, full of attraction and charm.
