Description:
To own a standing and remarkable ancient Buddha is always my wish, but it is very difficult to find a good and reasonable priced one. Last year when I was browsing around the market, I saw this standing Manjusri and right away was attracted by her stunning and elegant demeanor. The image is with gilt face and standing casually and gracefully, wearing three-leaved crown fastened by a ribbon with swirling ends, Bound hair falling down to the shoulder, a pair of circular earrings, and with necklace, bracelets on the upper arms, wrists, and ankles. Both eyes looking down, and showing an appearance of benevolent face and serene expression. Left hand holds a scripture, while right hand grips a wisdom sword. Her upper body is dressed in a double-collar rope incised with delicate design and covering both shoulders, while the rope also draping down naturally to lower body, adorned with multiple jeweled necklace, and limbs with bracelets, very real and realistic.

I asked for the price, and it was surprisingly high to me. The owner knows about the antique so it is not easy to get a bargain. Over than one year, the statue was still there, no sales. So, I went back to the owner again asking for sell. This time the owner had a little more desire to talk about price, and plus he had another majestic Bronze Kadampa Chorten (lot 100), but he just thought it was only an ordinary Stupa, so I offered one good price but got two great collections. This is definitely a worthwhile deal, and makes me very happy.

I believe this splendid standing Manjusri statue is from 12 to 14 century, made by great quality of copper which wonˇ¦t be seen in recent year. With aged, the feet were misplaced, and the wisdom sword was missing, but that would never affect any of the expression or value of the statue. The original owner made a hanger stand to firmly display the standing Manjusri. However, I am thinking to cast another lotus pedestal and put standing Manjusri on top to replace the misplaced feet and enhance her magnificence and glory. What you think?
