Description:
This is a very lovely wooden sculpture of Guanyin Avalokiteshvara Statue Riding Dragon Holding Vase, the carving art work is in its simplicity and skill, very into detail and incised. The Guanyin has a very kind face, left hand holding a vase, and right hand circled, standing on the top of the dragon head, it is so called Dragon Head Guanyin, one of the 33 symbols of Guanyin, also known as, Riding Dragon Guanyin, or Southern Sea Guanyin.

The back of Guanyin has an open hole to put sacred stuffs, cover lost. The whole sculpture is gold gilted, and in good preservation. It is a stylish and worthwhile wooden statue for collecion dated by Qing period.
 
Condition and Additional Specification:
The wood is in an excellent state of preservation. While the high points of the gilt are somewhat rubbed, as can easily be seen in the photos. The details are incised and well delineated. There are some cracks under the base, and on the recessed areas in the back of the sculpture.
