Description:
|
This is a Stone Head Figure of a Bodhisattva, Amitabha which I bought decades ago, very big and very heavy. Cannot see him left behind on the street, so I got him into my collection and custom made an iron base so he can stand up firm again and see the world. Really hope one day he can find his origin station and home, and reunion into one with his real body. Consummation of merits Amitabha
The hair of the Buddha is a collection of dense high-relief spirals. He has a protrusion on top of his head, the ushnisha, which is prominently represented here. He has a very broad, curved forehead. His two eyebrows are lightly indicated with curved lines, above downcast eyes in meditation. The nose is thin and straight, the nose wing is broad, and the lips gently smiling. He has a prominent mental point, elongated earlobes, these are all prescribed features of the Buddha. The most noticeable on the face of the current figure: the thin curved eyebrows, broad forehead, narrow chin, and half-opened eyes combine to form the gentle and kind countenance that exudes the elegance and ease of a Buddha. |
